WHY LOFOTEN?
Known for its magic nature
Lofoten is a place of contrasts. It's a natural wonder with
thriving local communities. It's where mountains meet the sea,
and where local businesses meet recreation. Lofoten's
distinctive magic lies in its ability to bring together everyday
local life with a global interest in its natural beauty.
Lofoten Islands, in Northern Norway, have been voted by
National Geographic as one of the most appealing destinations in
the world. Located just above the Arctic Circle, at the 68th
northern parallel, Lofoten basks in the ethereal Midnight Sun
during summer and witnesses the magical Northern Lights from
September to April.
PLACES
Places to visit in Lofoten
Reine
Reine is maybe one of the strongest must-visit places in Lofoten, it's iconic! You probably have seen tons of photos of the famous mountain: Reinebringen, a modest 448 meters high. The summit's view is why around 1000 people walk there daily in the high season. One of the most popular hikes in Lofoten.
Sakris Island
Nestled between Reine and Hamnøy is Sakrisøy. A fishing village where fish drying racks line the rocks and stunning mountains backdrops venture far into the distance. There's also a change in color here with yellow the dominant tone contrasting beatutifully against the deep blues of the surrounding fjords.
Nusfjord Fishing Village
In Nusfjord you can be taken back in time by the antique colonial shop, which is kept authentic and with all sorts of fun vintage objects from the early time in Nusfjord. They also have great Norwegians waffles and if you want, you can go on an excursion and be a fisherman for the day and catch your own dinner.
